Making a Comeback
Updated: May 29
IT’S NEVER TOO LATE FOR A COMEBACK AT ANY AGE…EVEN OVER 50! TAKE CONTROL OF YOUR HORMONES, REGAIN CONTROL OF YOUR LIFE!

Making a comeback for any individual can be a daunting task, but for myself the reality is for an IFBB Bikini Pro at my age, turning 53 this year, the challenges can be even greater. There are real struggles that are just not in our head and no matter how on point we may be with our training and diet – progression seems to be minimal if at all. You don’t have to be a competitor to experience this.
Here’s why:
Age-related hormonal changes can affect muscle mass, metabolism, and recovery time, making it more difficult to achieve peak physical performance.
One of the biggest challenges facing any female at this age is the decline in estrogen levels. Estrogen plays a crucial role in maintaining bone density, which can be compromised with age. This can increase the risk of fractures and injury, making it more difficult to train at a high level.
Another hormonal challenge that comes with age whether you are male or female is a decrease in testosterone levels. Testosterone is responsible for maintaining muscle mass and strength, and as levels decline, it can become more difficult to build and maintain muscle mass. This can be particularly challenging for competitors, as their physique relies heavily on well-defined muscles and a low body fat percentage.

In addition to hormonal challenges, there are also psychological and emotional hurdles that come with making a comeback. Many athletes may struggle with self-doubt or feelings of inadequacy, especially if they have been away from the sport for a long period of time. It can be difficult to find the motivation and drive to push through tough workouts and maintain a strict diet. But you are not alone. There is help to get you past this.
Despite these challenges, with the right training program, nutrition plan, and mindset, it is possible to overcome hormonal obstacles and achieve peak physical performance. It is important to work with a knowledgeable coach or trainer who can help tailor a program to individual needs and goals, as well as address any hormonal imbalances or deficiencies. With dedication, discipline, and perseverance, any one can make a successful comeback, regardless of age.
